Interstate 91, the daily Vermonter, and the new Depot Street station

Getting to Brattleboro

Interstate 91 makes Brattleboro a direct southern Vermont drive. Amtrak's Vermonter now stops at 21 Depot Street below downtown, near BMAC and Main Street; Retreat Farm and rural lodging still require a local ride or careful walk plan.

Exits on the north and south sides of town connect quickly to downtown. Friday, foliage, snow, and construction can change the normal time; check New England 511 conditions.

Ride the Vermonter

The daily Amtrak route links Brattleboro with New York, New Haven, Springfield, and Vermont points. Reserve against the current timetable rather than relying on an old arrival time.

Compare airport transfers

Bradley is the most straightforward major-airport drive. Albany, Boston, and New York airports can fit wider itineraries, but none removes the final ground transfer.

The station and museum share the river edge

Amtrak moved service permanently to the new station at 21 Depot Street in June 2026. It sits by the tracks below the commercial center, near BMAC in the former Union Station. Main Street climbs above it. Pack for the grade and weather if walking with luggage, and arrange a ride for properties beyond downtown or for Retreat Farm when conditions make the route uncomfortable.

Interstate 91, the Vermonter, Bradley Airport, downtown, and Retreat Farm

The train reaches the new Depot Street station below downtown; Interstate 91 reaches both sides of town.

Amtrak moved Brattleboro service to the new station at 21 Depot Street in June 2026. It sits beside the tracks near Brattleboro Museum & Art Center below Main Street. Bradley International Airport approaches from the south by Interstate 91, while Boston and New York require longer road or rail trips. Map lines show broad arrival corridors rather than turn-by-turn geometry; use current Amtrak, airport, road, and local parking information before departure.

  • Downtown is compact but sloped; Retreat Farm and rural lodging need a separate local transfer or weather-aware walk plan.
