Getting to Brattleboro
Interstate 91 makes Brattleboro a direct southern Vermont drive. Amtrak uses 21 Depot Street for the Vermonter stop below downtown; the Town describes the station at 21 Vernon Street beside the Depot Street municipal lot. Retreat Farm and rural lodging still require a local ride or careful walk plan.
Ride the Vermonter
The daily Amtrak route links Brattleboro with New York, New Haven, Springfield, and Vermont points. Reserve against the current timetable rather than relying on an old arrival time.
Compare airport transfers
Allow about 1¼ hours from Bradley, 2 hours from Albany, roughly 2–2¼ hours from Boston Logan, and at least 3½ hours from New York City airports before traffic. Bradley is the shortest major-airport transfer; all four require a rental car or another ground connection.
The station and museum share the river edge
Amtrak moved service permanently to the new station in June 2026. Amtrak uses 21 Depot Street as the station address, while the Town's opening notice uses 21 Vernon Street and places it near the Depot Street municipal parking lot. The station has no Amtrak parking. It sits by the tracks below Main Street, near BMAC in the former Union Station. Pack for the grade and weather if walking with luggage, and arrange a ride for Retreat Farm or lodging beyond downtown.
